Washington D.C., May 10, 2012 — The Institute of International Finance today announced that Kevin Nixon will be assuming a new position at the IIF on July 11, 2012, as Deputy Managing Director with responsibilities for regulatory policy and IIF membership relations. Mr. Nixon, an Australian citizen, is currently Executive Director, Head of Regulatory Reform, for Westpac Banking Corporation.
The IIF is the leading global association of financial services institutions. IIF Managing Director Charles Dallara stated, “We are delighted that Kevin Nixon will be joining the Institute. Kevin brings formidable experience in Australian and international finance and in recent years he has played an important role in the global industry in contributing to its positions on major financial regulatory issues.”
Mr. Dallara added, “Mr. Nixon will be playing a key role as a member of the Institute’s senior management team, while providing strategic direction for our regulatory efforts, working closely with Andres Portilla, Director of the IIF Regulatory Affairs Department, and David Schraa, Regulatory Counsel. At the same time, he will be guiding our membership activities in close collaboration with Wolfgang Engel, Director, IIF Membership Department and his team. I am delighted to report that IIF membership now stands at a record of over 450 member institutions.”
As Executive Director, Head of Regulatory Reform for The Westpac Group, Mr. Nixon’s focus has been the international regulatory reform agenda, engaging in the debate globally with regulators, associations, and other stakeholders, assessing the implications and ensuring the Westpac Group is positioned to respond.
Mr. Nixon, who has held a range of positions at several major international banking groups, joined Westpac in March 2010. He had been Director-Markets at the Australian Financial Markets Association (AFMA) from 2008-2010.
