We were delighted to partner with Fitch Ratings for our first IIF Global Debt Monitor of 2024, which was held on Wednesday, February 21.
With sovereign debt policy high on the agenda for Brazil’s G20 Presidency - including via the 2024 work of the Global Sovereign Debt Roundtable (GSDR) - our program featured a brief staff presentation highlighting the main takeaways from our flagship report, “Global Debt Monitor: Politics, Policy and Debt Markets - What to Watch in 2024.” Following the presentation, our panel of experts discussed the rapidly changing political landscape and associated policy risks for global debt markets, with an update on the work of the GSDR on improving the Common Framework and expediting debt restructuring. We also considered the growing push to mobilize private capital for sustainable development, with special emphasis on the role of credit ratings and trade finance for climate action in emerging markets and developing economies.
