DataTalk - Briefing Note 32 – Open Finance, Open Data and Digital ID

The August edition of DataTalk explored how Open Finance, Open Data, and Digital ID are driving change in financial services around the globe by facilitating data sharing, boosting competition, and advancing innovation. These initiatives seek to empower customers with personalized financial products and enhanced payment systems; however, their progress and emphasis differ across regions due to varying regulatory landscapes and market dynamics. For instance, the UK prioritizes competition, while Brazil focuses on integrating advanced technologies like AI and blockchain to promote financial inclusion. Despite global advancements, challenges in adoption and infrastructure continue to shape the future of these transformative trends. There are also emerging questions about cost/benefit impact in some efforts. This briefing note summarizes the discussion held on August 14, 2024, respecting that the forum is conducted under the Chatham House Rule and does not represent the official position of the IIF or its membership.

We look forward to continuing the DataTalk series on Wednesday, November 20, 2024, 8:00 am Washington DC / 8:00 pm Singapore when we will explore Payments, E-commerce, and Data.
