Policy Advisor

Gaku Kobayashi serves as Policy Advisor, Regulatory Affairs at IIF. In this role, he covers regulatory and policy topics, including prudential standards. Previously, he served as Executive Director within the Strategic Planning Department of Global Banking Unit of Sumitomo Mitsui Banking Corporation in Japan, where he played a central role in a new bank-wide project for its global transaction banking business. Prior to this role, he spent more than 20 years in commercial and investment banking, where he was responsible for products such as Debt Capital Market and M&A.

Education

He holds an MBA from the Tuck School of Business at Dartmouth and a master’s degree in economics from Tsukuba University in Japan.
